Sidney Alumni Association Inducts 2017 Wall of Fame Honorees at Annual Luncheon PHOTO

SIDNEY – The annual Sidney Alumni Association All-Class Reunion Weekend culminated Sunday, July 16 with a Sidney Wall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon held at the Elks Lodge of Sidney. It was a day filled with hugs, handshakes, reminiscences and recognitions. Attendees spanned from the Class of ’43 through graduates of the early 2000s.

Keynote speaker and Sidney Central School superintendent, William Christensen, began proceedings before emcee and Class of ’59 alum, Douglas Sheldon, welcomed this year’s inductees: Dr. David Borstein, Class of 1951; Dr. Elliot Danforth, Jr., Class of 1952; Patricia Greene, Class of 1953; Gary Scavo; and Richard Townsend.

Early in the ceremony, Michael Sellitti, owner of Skytop Digital Media, Sidney alum and association member, noted that the group recently rebranded itself with a redesigned letterhead, Facebook page and website ( Sellitti noted, “This is about engaging those students coming out of Sidney Central School.” He added, “You’ll see a lot more improvements and updates coming up.”

Dr. David Bornstein, DDS, was honored first, with his son, David Borstein, Jr., accepting on his father’s behalf. Bornstein was honored for exemplary leadership in dentistry and community service. His son joked, “A lot of you probably remember him and some have his dentistry in your mouth.” He noted, “He did a lot in this community.”
