UNADILLA – School’s in session, apples are on the trees and leaves are starting to color: Fall is fast approaching and with it the Unadilla Rotary Club’s ninth annual Unadilla Autumn Fest.
The festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 on the Unadilla Community Field. Full of family-friendly fun, Autumn Fest promises something for everyone.
Festivalgoers will enjoy free activities for kids, thanks to a generous grant from the Unadilla Community Foundation, including performances by the Catskill Puppet Theater, animal encounters by Animal Adventures from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., pumpkin painting, cookie decorating and face paint; entertainment by local singers; the competitive, always-popular Rotary Chili Cook-Off, presented by Christie Connors Cookies & Catering; a scarecrow-decorating contest; demonstrations by the Boy Scouts of America; lots of local vendors offering handmade crafts, textiles, gifts, keepsakes and toiletries; historical hayrides through the village; fair-style food; and more.
Covered Bridge Farmers’ Market of Unadilla will be on-hand offering homegrown pumpkins, gourds, apples, corn and harvest decor.
The Unadilla Rotary Club will be cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs and, of course, Rotarians will dish out bowl after bowl of chili. For visitors with a sweet tooth, the Unadilla Historical Association will have ice cream sundaes. Representatives from Unatego Dollars for Scholars will be selling popcorn.
Just off the grounds, lovers of all things pumpkin-flavored will appreciate the official launch of pumpkin season at The Meeting Place on Main Street. The coffee house will feature pumpkin spice lattes, muffins and cookies along with “mom’s pumpkin pie.” Apple cider, scones and pie will also be available.
